Smart Lamp Setup Success with Physical Switches

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent success in integrating my smart lamps with traditional wall switches. After some research and trial and error, I managed to get everything working seamlessly. It’s such a relief to have the convenience of smart lighting without sacrificing the quick access of physical switches!

I stumbled upon a great solution using Shelly relays, which allowed me to keep my smart lamps online while still using the existing wall switches. The setup was a bit tricky at first, especially since I had to flash custom firmware onto the Shelly devices, but the process was manageable with some guidance from online forums.

One thing I found particularly useful was the failover option where the Shelly relays would work as standard switches if the Wi-Fi connection went down. It’s a reassuring backup feature, especially for someone like me who’s still getting comfortable with all the smart home tech.

I also wanted to mention the importance of proper wiring and ensuring that the smart lamps receive constant power. It took a few attempts, but once everything was correctly connected, the system ran like clockwork.

For anyone looking to tackle a similar project, here are a few tips:

  • Research thoroughly: Look for forums or guides specific to your devices and setup.
  • Start small: Test one lamp and its corresponding switch before moving on to the rest.
  • Don’t skip the manual: Even though it might seem tedious, understanding the basics of your devices can save you a lot of time in the long run.

It’s been a fun and educational journey, and I’m excited to see how I can expand my smart home setup in the future. If anyone has questions or needs advice, feel free to reach out! Happy tinkering!
