Hey everyone! I’m really into setting up my home with smart devices, and I’ve been experimenting with different switches and dimmers for my smart bulbs. I’ve come across a challenge that I’d love to get your thoughts on!
One of my main goals is to find the perfect switch/dimmer for my smart bulbs that doesn’t allow local control. I’ve tried a few options, like the Zooz and Innovelli switches, which seem great because they let me disable local control. However, I’ve noticed that some models, like the Zen 27 dimmers, can be a bit tricky when it comes to dimming. They tend to send a lot of dimming level updates, which can be a bit annoying.
I’ve also tried the Zen 26 on/off switch, and I really like how it reports button events—like pushed, held, and released. This makes it easier to create custom automations. For example, I could set it up so that a quick press turns the light on, while holding it adjusts the brightness. That would be perfect for my setup!
Another thing I’ve been exploring is how different bulbs handle color temperature changes. I have some Sengled Zigbee bulbs, and I’m happy with them so far, but I’d love to hear if anyone else has a preferred brand or model that works well with automations.
If anyone has suggestions for switches or dimmers that work seamlessly with smart bulbs and offer the features I’m looking for, I’d love to hear about them! Also, if you’ve found a great way to handle color temperature changes without accidentally turning lights on, please share your tips!
