Hey everyone! I’m really excited to share my latest smart home project with you. I’ve just moved into a new home and I’m in the process of setting up my smart lighting system. One thing I’ve noticed is that I often forget to turn off the lights in the basement, which can be a bit of a hassle. I’ve heard great things about FS20 devices and I’m wondering if I can use one to solve this problem.
I’ve got this idea to replace one of my traditional light switches with an FS20WS1 smart switch. The plan is to install it in the basement so I can control the lights remotely. I’ve also got this old wall switch that I’d like to repurpose as a cross switch. I’ve seen some examples online where people have done similar things, but I’m not entirely sure how to go about it. Does anyone have experience with this kind of setup?
I’ve included a rough sketch of what I’m thinking in terms of wiring and placement. I’d love to hear if this approach makes sense or if there’s a better way to achieve the same result. I’m also curious about how reliable the FS20 devices are in real-world applications. Have any of you had success with these?
Another thing I’m considering is whether I need to install any additional hardware, like a hub or a relay, to make this work seamlessly. I’ve got a Raspberry Pi running Home Assistant, so I’m hoping I can integrate this without too much extra setup. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!
I’m really looking forward to getting this project up and running. It’s a small change, but I think it could make a big difference in how I manage my lighting. Thanks in advance for your help and insights! ![]()
