As the holiday season approaches, I wanted to share how integrating smart lighting and automation has transformed our family gatherings. This year, we decided to upgrade our outdoor lighting system using Govee RGBW bulbs and Shelly dimmers. The result? A stunning light show that syncs perfectly with our favorite music playlists and even our smart speaker commands.
One of the most rewarding aspects has been involving my family in the setup. My kids love creating custom scenes using the Govee app, and it’s been a great way to teach them about technology and creativity. We’ve even set up a ‘movie night’ scene that dims the lights and plays our favorite flicks automatically.
A small challenge we faced was ensuring all devices communicated seamlessly. After some research, we found that pairing the Shelly dimmers with the right settings in Home Assistant made all the difference. It’s amazing how a little troubleshooting can lead to such a polished system.
