Smart Lighting and Automation Tips from My Recent Project

Hey everyone, I wanted to share some insights from my recent home automation project. I’ve been experimenting with integrating different smart devices and have learned a few things along the way. First, I’d love to hear your thoughts on smart lighting setups. I’ve been using a mix of LED strips and smart bulbs, and while they’ve worked well, I’m curious about the best practices for energy efficiency and color consistency.

One of my favorite additions has been the Govee pendant lights. They’ve transformed the ambiance of my living room, and the app controls make it easy to set different scenes. However, I’m still figuring out how to integrate them seamlessly with my existing smart home ecosystem. If anyone has tips on optimizing these lights with other devices, I’d appreciate it!

On the automation side, I’ve been working on setting up motion and light sensors to automate my outdoor lighting. It’s been a bit of a challenge getting the sensitivity just right—too sensitive and the lights come on unnecessarily, too insensitive and they don’t activate when needed. I’d love to know if others have faced similar issues and how they’ve resolved them.

Another area I’m exploring is energy monitoring. With the shift to power-based tariffs, I’m trying to keep track of my electricity usage more effectively. I’ve started using some smart meters, but I’m still looking for the best way to visualize this data. Are there any recommended tools or integrations that make this easier?

Lastly, I wanted to share a quick tip for anyone looking to add under-cabinet lighting. I recently installed some IKEA Norrfly strips paired with a Tradfri driver, and they’ve been a game-changer for task lighting in the kitchen. The setup was straightforward, and the dimming feature has been a huge plus.

I’d love to hear your experiences and any advice you have on these topics. Whether it’s about lighting, automation, or energy monitoring, your insights are always valuable! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with the community.
