Smart Lighting and Device Integration Tips and Tricks

Hey everyone! I’m so grateful to be part of such an amazing community. I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting and device integration, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and tips that might help others on their smart home journey. :star2:

First off, if you’re looking for reliable Zigbee or Z-Wave bulbs that are rated for enclosed fixtures, I’ve found that Cree Connected bulbs are a great option. They’re UL certified and work seamlessly with my setup. I’ve also heard good things about Innr bulbs, though I’m still waiting to confirm their certifications. If anyone has more info on that, I’d love to hear it! :bulb:

Another thing I’ve been experimenting with is integrating different smart devices from various brands. It’s been a bit of a challenge, but using the Home Assistant platform has made it much easier. I’ve managed to link my Spotify accounts so that each of my kids can play their own playlists on their respective Echo Dots. It’s been a lifesaver for keeping the peace in our household! :headphones:

I’ve also been working on creating a more seamless automation setup. For instance, I’ve set up my Mi Box remote to control my Samsung TV and receiver through Home Assistant. It’s a bit of a hack, but it works perfectly and I love how it streamlines my entertainment system. If anyone has tips on improving this setup, I’m all ears! :video_game:

One thing I’m still struggling with is getting my Shelly 1 Gen 4 switches to work perfectly with my low-voltage landscape lighting. I’ve managed to get them working, but I’m looking for ways to have more individual control over different areas. If anyone has advice or product recommendations, that would be amazing! :herb:

Lastly, I’ve found that using the Tomorrow.io component for weather data has been incredibly helpful for predicting solar energy production. It’s a small thing, but it makes a big difference in optimizing my home’s energy efficiency. If there’s a way to add cloud cover data to this component, it would be the cherry on top! :sun_with_face:

I’d love to hear everyone’s tips, tricks, and experiences. Let’s keep the conversation going and make our smart homes even smarter! :computer:

Warm regards,
