Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent project where I integrated smart lighting and HVAC automation based on presence and temperature. It’s been a fantastic way to enhance comfort and energy efficiency at home. Here’s how I did it:
Setup Details:
- Presence Detection: I used a combination of motion sensors and door/window sensors to detect when someone enters a room.
- Temperature Monitoring: Each room has a temperature sensor to track the current temperature.
- Automation Rules:
- When a person enters a room, the lights automatically adjust to a preset brightness and color.
- If the temperature is below a certain threshold, the HVAC system turns on the heater.
- Conversely, if it’s too warm, the AC kicks in.
- Integration: All these devices are connected through Home Assistant, which handles the automation logic.
Tips for Others:
- Calibrate Sensors: Spend some time adjusting the sensitivity of your motion sensors to avoid false triggers.
- Temperature Thresholds: Set realistic temperature thresholds based on your comfort levels to prevent unnecessary HVAC usage.
- Energy Monitoring: Pair your setup with an energy monitoring system to track savings and optimize settings further.
This project has made my home much more comfortable and energy-efficient. I’d love to hear about your smart home automation experiences or any tips you might have! ![]()
