Recently, I embarked on an exciting project to integrate my Qubino mini dimmers and Govee LED strips into my existing smart home ecosystem. The goal was to create a seamless lighting automation system that enhances my daily life. Here’s how it unfolded!

I started by attempting to connect the Qubino mini dimmers (ZMNHHD1) to my Z-Wave network. While other Qubino devices integrated smoothly, these dimmers presented a puzzle. The error message “No app available” kept appearing, leaving me puzzled. After some research, I discovered that these devices might not yet be fully supported by my Homey software. This was a setback, but I wasn’t deterred.
The Solution
I decided to explore alternative solutions. Enter the Govee LED strips! These versatile lights offered the perfect blend of aesthetics and functionality. I installed them in strategic locations, including my fireplace and garage. To control them, I needed to set up a reliable power supply and ensure minimal voltage drop, especially for the longer extension to my roof. After some trial and error, I found that upgrading the power supply to a higher amperage and using a 16/3 insulated wire made a significant difference.
Automation Magic
With the hardware in place, the next step was automation. Using Home Assistant, I created a scene that triggers at sunset, gradually dimming the lights to create a warm, inviting ambiance. I also integrated motion sensors to ensure the lights turn on automatically when I enter a room, providing both convenience and energy efficiency.

The result is nothing short of amazing. My home now boasts a sophisticated lighting system that adapts to my needs seamlessly. The integration of Qubino and Govee devices, combined with Home Assistant’s automation capabilities, has transformed my living space into a smart, efficient, and enjoyable environment.
