Smart Lighting Automation and Color Sync Tips

I’ve been diving into creating a seamless lighting experience in my home, and I wanted to share some of my findings and tips with the community! :rocket:

My Goal:
I wanted to set up automatic lighting scenes that sync perfectly with my TV and music system. The idea was to have my lights dim when I start watching a movie, and have them pulse in sync with the music when I’m entertaining guests.

Challenges Faced:

  1. Color Sync Issues: Initially, getting my Govee LED strips to sync perfectly with my TV was a bit tricky. I had to play around with the settings in the Govee app to get the right delay and intensity.
  2. Automation Timing: Timing the lights to turn on/off at just the right moments was another hurdle. I ended up using a combination of motion sensors and scheduled triggers to get it right.

Solutions and Tips:

  • For Color Sync: If you’re using Govee products, make sure you’re running the latest firmware. The newer versions have improved sync capabilities!
  • For Automation: I found that setting up multiple scenes with different brightness levels and color temperatures really helps. For example, a dim, warm scene for movie nights and a brighter, cooler scene for gaming.

Unexpected Bonus:
I discovered that my Shelly switches work perfectly with the Govee system. They’re reliable and offer a nice touch of automation without needing constant supervision.
