Hey everyone, I’m diving into the world of smart lighting automation and I’m excited to share my journey with you! ![]()
I’ve been using Home Assistant for a while now to control my home heating and media systems, and it’s been a fantastic experience. But now I want to take it to the next level by integrating smart lighting controls. I’ve started with a simple automation to turn on the stairwell lights when motion is detected. It’s working well, but I want to make it even smarter!
Here’s what I have so far:
- Trigger: Motion detected (using an Aeotec MultiSensor 6)
- Action: Turn on the entrance hall light and the bedroom landing light at 60%
- Condition: Wait for 2 minutes before turning the lights off
This setup works great, but I want to add some time-based conditions to make it even more efficient. Specifically, I want the automation to run only after sunset and before sunrise. I’ve tried adding this condition in different ways, but I’m not quite getting it right. Could someone help me figure out the best way to implement this?
Additionally, I’d love to add another layer of customization: having the lights turn on at 60% brightness between 11:30 PM and 5:00 AM. Is this possible within the same automation? I’m a bit stuck here and would really appreciate any guidance!
I’ve followed the documentation and watched several YouTube tutorials, but I’m still missing that final piece of the puzzle. If anyone has experience with similar automations or knows a good approach to tackle this, please share your wisdom! ![]()
Looking forward to hearing from you all and learning more about the creative ways you’ve mastered smart lighting automation!
Best regards,
