I recently set up an automation in my smart home that has made evening arrivals much more convenient and enjoyable. The setup involves my Schlage smart lock, Philips Hue lights, and a motion sensor. Here’s how it works:
When I unlock the door in the evening, the system automatically turns on the living room lights and adjusts them to a warm, ambient setting. If I’m carrying groceries or just need a bit more light, I can quickly dim or brighten the lights using my smartphone app. This automation has been a game-changer for me, especially during the winter months when it gets dark early.
One thing I learned during the setup was the importance of motion sensor placement. Initially, the sensor was too close to the door, causing it to trigger too early. After moving it a bit further into the room, the system now works perfectly without any false triggers.
I’d love to hear how others have automated their lighting systems for similar scenarios. Have you found any unique ways to enhance your evening routines with smart lighting?
