Smart Lighting Automation for Home Entertainment

I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting automation to enhance my home entertainment setup, and I wanted to share my journey with the community. :video_game::sparkles:

One of the key features I’ve been exploring is using my smart LED strips to create immersive lighting effects during movie nights and gaming sessions. I’ve successfully integrated my LED strips with a Zigbee controller, which allows me to sync the lighting with my Home Assistant system. However, I ran into a challenge when trying to control two LED strips simultaneously using a dual-channel wall switch. The dimming functionality worked perfectly when controlling a single strip, but it seemed to lose responsiveness when both strips were connected. :jigsaw:

After some research and trial and error, I discovered that using a script to read the dimmer value from one strip and apply it to the other was a viable workaround. While this solution introduced a slight delay (~1-2 seconds), it was a significant improvement over the initial setup. I’m now curious if there’s a more seamless way to achieve this without the delay, perhaps through a different configuration or integration. :arrows_counterclockwise:

Another area I’ve been experimenting with is creating device groups for my mobile devices. I wanted to set up a group that could act as a trigger for certain automations, like adjusting lighting and temperature when my phone detects I’m home. Unfortunately, I ran into issues selecting my devices as entities in the group settings. If anyone has tips or workarounds for this, I’d greatly appreciate the insight!

On a lighter note, I’ve also been enjoying the flexibility of using my iOS app through an Nginx reverse proxy with basic authentication. It’s been a reliable way to access my system remotely, though I’m still tweaking the settings to ensure everything runs smoothly. :iphone::lock:

If anyone has tips on optimizing smart lighting setups, troubleshooting device group configurations, or enhancing remote access, I’d love to hear your experiences and advice! Let’s continue to explore and innovate together. :rocket::bulb:
