Smart Lighting Automation for Morning Wake-Up

Morning routines can be so much more enjoyable with the right smart home setup! I’ve been experimenting with using my smart lights to create a gentle wake-up experience, and I’d love to share my findings and ask for tips from the community.

I recently upgraded my bedroom lights to a set of smart bulbs that support dimming. My goal is to have them gradually increase in brightness over a 30-minute period before my alarm goes off. This should mimic the natural sunrise and help me wake up feeling more refreshed. While the idea sounds simple, setting it up has been a bit of a challenge.

Currently, I’ve set up a basic automation using my smart home hub that turns the lights on at a specific time. However, manually adjusting the brightness every few minutes isn’t practical or efficient. I’ve heard that some hubs allow for more advanced scheduling, but I’m not entirely sure how to implement a smooth brightness transition.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has successfully set up a similar system. What tools or apps did you use? Are there any specific smart bulbs or hubs that work particularly well for this kind of automation? Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!

Additionally, I’m curious about how others handle the transition from dim to full brightness. Do you set it to reach maximum brightness exactly when your alarm goes off, or do you prefer a slightly softer light? I’d love to know how different approaches affect people’s mornings.

Let’s collaborate and make mornings brighter and more pleasant for everyone! :sunrise:
