Smart Lighting Automation for Sunrise and Sunset

Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I wanted to share my experience with setting up an automated lighting system that adjusts based on sunrise and sunset times. It’s been a fun project, and I’ve learned a lot along the way!

So, here’s the setup: I’ve installed several smart lights around my home, and I wanted them to dim up gradually as the sun rises and dim down as it sets. The goal was to create a seamless transition between natural and artificial lighting throughout the day. I decided to use Home Assistant for this project since it’s highly customizable and integrates well with my existing smart devices.

I created an automation that toggles the lights with a set brightness percentage right after sunrise and does the same thing again just before sunset. It works quite well, but I ran into an interesting issue. If I manually adjust the brightness of a light, the automation doesn’t change the percentage when it triggers. I’m curious if anyone else has experienced this and how they’ve resolved it. Maybe there’s a setting or a different approach I can take to ensure the automation overrides manual adjustments seamlessly.

Another thing I’ve been exploring is integrating my smart lights with other devices, like my Bluetooth speaker. I’m looking for a way to broadcast my Bluetooth speaker as an AirPlay device. It would be awesome to have the lights and music synced up for parties or just relaxing at home. If anyone has any tips or solutions for this, I’d love to hear them!

On a lighter note, my partner keeps joking that I should open a nightclub with all the lights I’m experimenting with. It’s been a blast trying out different color schemes and effects, though I do need to keep the noise levels down!

I’d love to hear about your smart lighting setups and any challenges or tips you’ve come across. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other create the perfect smart home environment! :star2:
