I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation for the past few months, and it’s been an incredible journey!
From setting up smart lighting to integrating various devices, I’ve learned so much along the way. One of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on is creating a seamless lighting system that adjusts based on time of day and occupancy. ![]()
Here’s a quick overview of my setup: I’ve installed a combination of Govee LED strips and IKEA TRÅDFRI bulbs throughout my home. The Govee strips are perfect for creating ambiance in the living room, while the IKEA bulbs provide reliable, dimmable lighting in other areas.
To control everything, I use a mix of manual switches and smart automation rules in my Homey system. The integration with Node-Red has been a game-changer for creating custom flows and dashboards. ![]()
One challenge I faced was getting the IKEA dimmer to work seamlessly with Homey. After some research, I discovered that using a Hue bridge as an intermediary helped bridge the gap between the two systems. It wasn’t the most straightforward solution, but it worked perfectly in the end! ![]()
