Smart Lighting Automation: porch light triggered by phone connecting to WiFi

Hey everyone, I’m fairly new to home automation and I came across an interesting idea that I’d love to try out. I want to set up my porch light so that it turns on when my phone connects to my home WiFi, but also has a timer so it doesn’t stay on all night. For example, the light would come on when I arrive home and my phone connects to the WiFi network, but only stay on for 5 to 10 minutes.

I’m really curious if anyone has experience with this kind of setup. I know it involves some smart bulbs and maybe a hub, but I’m not entirely sure how to get started. I’ve heard about using timers and automation rules, but I’m not sure how to combine them with my phone’s WiFi connection.

I think this could be a great way to save energy while still ensuring my porch is lit when I need it. I’m also wondering if there are any potential issues, like the light not turning off properly or the timer not working as expected. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences. Thanks in advance!
