Hey everyone, I’m a newbie transitioning from Vera to SmartThings, and I’m still getting the hang of things. I’ve set up a simple smart lighting automation where two Philips Hue Iris lights turn red when my rear slider door opens and turn off when it closes. It works perfectly most of the time, but I have a specific use case I’d love to solve.
During holidays, I use these lights for decorative purposes—pink in the evenings for Valentine’s Day, red and green for Christmas, and sometimes just off when there’s no holiday. The challenge is to make sure the lights return to their previous state after the door closes. For instance, if they were pink before the door opened, they should go back to pink, not just turn off or switch to a default color.
I’ve tried a few things, but nothing seems to work consistently. I’d love to hear your thoughts or any tips on how to program this automation effectively. Whether it’s through scene settings, custom scripts, or third-party integrations, I’m open to any suggestions!
