Hi everyone! I’m really excited to share my recent experience setting up smart lighting automation in my home. I’ve been using Shelly devices alongside my Hue lights, and it’s been a fantastic journey. I wanted to create a system where my spotlights dim to 50% at sunset, brighten to 100% when motion is detected, and then return to 50% after a few minutes. Around midnight, they should turn off completely. The motion sensor should remain active throughout the night, ensuring safety without being too intrusive.
I’ve been tinkering with the Shelly Motion and Shelly WiFi Dimmer 2, and while the basic setup was straightforward, getting the automation just right took some trial and error. I’m curious if anyone has successfully implemented a similar setup and could share their experience or tips. I’m particularly interested in how to ensure smooth transitions between the different states without any hiccups.
Another thing I’m exploring is integrating this setup with my existing Hue devices. I’ve heard that sometimes devices can show up multiple times in Alexa, which is a bit confusing. I’d love to know if there’s a way to restrict Alexa from duplicating these devices or if there’s a better way to manage them within the SmartThings ecosystem.
If anyone has advice on optimizing the automation rules or has encountered similar challenges, I’d be grateful for your insights. Let’s keep the conversation positive and supportive as we all navigate the exciting world of smart home automation! Cheers! ![]()
