I wanted to share my recent success with setting up a smart lighting automation using Sonoff devices. My goal was to automate my outdoor lights to turn on for a set duration when motion is detected, with the ability to reset the timer if motion is detected again. This was a bit challenging at first, but I managed to get it working perfectly! Here’s what I did: I used a Sonoff PIR motion sensor to detect movement and a Sonoff T1 switch to control the lights. I also added a Sonoff Bridge to handle the automation logic. The setup works as follows: when the PIR detects motion, it sends a signal to the Bridge, which triggers the T1 switch to turn on the lights for 10 minutes. If motion is detected again within those 10 minutes, the timer resets back to 10 minutes. This ensures that the lights stay on as long as someone is moving around the area. One thing I struggled with initially was the timer not resetting properly. After some research and testing, I realized that the key was to ensure the Bridge was receiving the signal from the PIR in real-time. Once I adjusted the settings in the Ewelink app, everything started working smoothly. I also wanted to make sure that if someone manually turns the lights on, they stay on indefinitely. This was important for convenience, especially if I want to leave the lights on for an extended period. I achieved this by setting up a separate scene in the app that bypasses the timer. Overall, this setup has been a game-changer for my outdoor lighting needs. It provides security and convenience without any hassle. I’m really happy with how it turned out and would recommend this setup to anyone looking to automate their outdoor lights! If anyone has questions or needs help setting up a similar system, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to share more details or troubleshoot any issues you might encounter. ![]()
