I’ve been on a journey to fully automate my home’s lighting and heating systems, and I’m thrilled to share my success story! ![]()
The Challenge:
I wanted to create a seamless experience where my kitchen lights automatically turn on when I enter and off when I leave, while also ensuring my radiator thermostat adjusts based on motion detection. However, getting my Fibaro motion sensors and Danfoss radiator thermostats to work in harmony proved tricky at first.
The Solution:
After some research and trial and error, I discovered the perfect setup using SmartTiles dashboard. Here’s what I did:
-
Motion Sensor Configuration:
- Set the motion sensor to trigger lights on with a short delay and off after 5 minutes of no detected motion.
- Adjusted sensitivity to avoid false triggers but still catch genuine movements.
-
Thermostat Integration:
- Linked the Danfoss radiator thermostat to the motion sensor so that when motion is detected, the thermostat slightly increases the temperature for comfort.
- Added a gradual cooling phase when motion stops to save energy.
-
SmartTiles Dashboard Setup:
- Created a dedicated tile for the kitchen automation system, providing a clear overview of statuses and allowing manual overrides if needed.
The Outcome:
It’s been a game-changer! The lights now respond perfectly to my movements, and the thermostat keeps the room at an ideal temperature without any unnecessary fluctuations. Best of all, I can monitor and adjust everything from my phone or the SmartTiles dashboard.
Tips for Others:
- Start with one room and perfect the setup before expanding.
- Use motion sensor sensitivity settings wisely to balance convenience and energy efficiency.

I’m so happy with how this turned out and can’t recommend this setup enough! ![]()
