Smart Lighting Automation with Ecolink Sensors and Philips Hue

I’ve been really enjoying experimenting with my smart home setup, and I wanted to share a fun project I’ve been working on. I recently picked up a couple of Ecolink window/door sensors and decided to repurpose them as button controllers for my Philips Hue lighting system. It’s been a great way to add some extra functionality without breaking the bank!

I’ve always loved how Philips Hue allows for such precise control over lighting, from warm white for relaxation to cool white for concentration. Pairing that with the flexibility of Ecolink sensors has been a game-changer. I’ve set up a system where pressing a button triggers different lighting scenes, like a relaxing evening mode or a bright morning wake-up light. The integration with SmartThings has been seamless, and it’s amazing how easily I can automate these actions.

One thing I’ve noticed, though, is that the sensors show up as door/window sensors in the app. While it’s not a huge issue, it would be nice if there was a way to customize their appearance to better reflect their use as buttons. I’ve heard about some smartapps that can help with this, but I’m still exploring my options.

If anyone has tips on how to make the most out of these sensors or has creative ways they’ve integrated them into their smart home, I’d love to hear about it! It’s always inspiring to see how others are using these devices in clever ways. Happy automating everyone! :rocket:
