I’ve been absolutely thrilled with how my smart lighting setup has transformed my mornings! 
We’ve got smart lights and lamps connected to smart plugs, and while they’ve been waking us up in the winter, I wanted to add a bit more intelligence to the mix. Specifically, I’d love for Home Assistant to check if it’s dark when we wake up and automatically turn on the lights if needed.
Here’s where our Reolink cameras come into play. They already detect if it’s dark outside, so I’m wondering if we can set up a macro like this: If the garden cam detects darkness, turn on the lights at 6:30 AM.
I’ve been exploring the rules engine in Home Assistant and it’s been a fascinating journey. While I can create a rule that triggers at a specific time or when a switch is turned on, I’m hitting a snag when it comes to adding a conditional based on another switch’s state. I’m curious if this can all be consolidated into one rule or if I need to break it down into two. Any insights from the community would be invaluable!
