Hi everyone! I’m really excited to share my latest project with you. I’ve been working on setting up a smart lighting system that automatically turns on when motion is detected and turns off after a period of inactivity. But here’s the cool part—I’ve added a condition so that it only triggers during sunset and sunrise. It’s perfect for those cozy evenings and early mornings!
I started by connecting my motion sensor to my smart lights. The setup was pretty straightforward, but I wanted to make sure the lights only came on when it was getting dark. I did some research and found out how to set offsets for sunset and sunrise. This way, the lights don’t come on too early or too late. It’s all about finding that sweet spot!
One thing I struggled with at first was figuring out the right wait time after motion stops. I didn’t want the lights to turn off immediately, but I also didn’t want them to stay on all night. After a bit of trial and error, I settled on 120 seconds. It gives me just enough time to move around without wasting energy.
I’m really happy with how this automation works. It’s made my evenings so much more convenient, and I love that it’s energy-efficient too. If anyone has tips on how to make this even smoother or has tried something similar, I’d love to hear about it!
Cheers to smart living! ![]()
