I’ve recently set up three Yeelight ceiling lights in my home and wanted to share my experience with automating their settings. The goal was to synchronize the color temperature and brightness across all lights for a cohesive ambiance. Here’s how I achieved it:
-
Group Configuration: I grouped all three lights under a single entity in Home Assistant. This allows me to control them simultaneously through the same interface.
-
Scene Automation: Using the built-in scene functionality, I created preset settings for different times of the day. For example, a warmer color temperature in the evenings and a cooler tone during the day for better natural light simulation.
-
Routine Integration: I integrated these scenes into my daily routines. Now, when I wake up, the lights gradually brighten to a cool white, and as night falls, they shift to a warmer hue to enhance relaxation.
-
Voice Control: The best part is integrating this setup with my smart speaker. I can now ask Alexa to “set the lights to reading mode” or “turn on the evening scene” without lifting a finger.
This setup has transformed my home lighting experience, making it both convenient and enjoyable. If anyone has tips on further enhancing this setup or alternative methods, I’d love to hear them!
