Smart Lighting: Enhancing Morning Routines with Sunrise Simulation

I’ve always been fascinated by how smart lighting can transform daily routines, especially in the morning. Waking up to a gradual increase in light, mimicking a natural sunrise, has been a game-changer for my mornings. I’ve been using a combination of RGBW bulbs and smart hubs to create this effect, and it’s truly made a difference in how I start my day.

The idea of simulating a sunrise isn’t new, but integrating it into a smart home setup adds a layer of convenience and customization. I remember setting up a series of robots on my old Wink hub to transition from dim red tones to bright white light over 100 minutes. It was a bit tedious—each minute required its own robot—but the result was worth it. The slow brightening helped ease me into wakefulness without the jarring shock of an alarm.

Now, with Hubitat, I’m exploring more flexible solutions. I’d love to see routines that allow easy adjustments to wakeup times, durations, and color transitions. Bonus points for integrating a PICO remote for on-the-fly adjustments! If anyone has experience with custom routines or knows of existing solutions, I’d love to hear about them.

Has anyone successfully implemented a sunrise simulation with RGBW bulbs? What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them? Let’s share tips and tricks to make this mornings even brighter! :sunrise:
