Smart Lighting for Halloween: A Spooky DIY Project
As Halloween approaches, I wanted to share a fun and creative way to enhance your home’s festive ambiance using smart lighting. I recently experimented with a DIY project that combines a projector, a frosted shower curtain, and some spooky videos from AtmosFX. The result? A haunted house effect that’s sure to impress your trick-or-treaters!
Here’s how I did it:
- Projection Setup: I used a simple projector to cast eerie scenes onto a frosted shower curtain. The curtain acts as a screen, creating a fog-like effect that adds to the spooky atmosphere.
- AtmosFX Videos: I downloaded some free spooky videos from AtmosFX and set them to loop continuously. These videos feature ghosts, zombies, and other Halloween-themed visuals that move across the screen.
- Smart Lighting Integration: To tie it all together, I programmed my smart lights to change colors and brightness in sync with the projected scenes. This creates a dynamic and immersive experience!
- Automations: I set up a routine in my smart home app to activate the projector and lights at sunset, ensuring the effect is ready when the first trick-or-treater arrives.
