Smart Lighting Group Control Tips and Experiences

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experiences with setting up and controlling smart lighting groups in my home. I’ve been using IKEA Traadfri bulbs for a while now, and while they work great individually, grouping them has been a bit of a challenge.

I’ve noticed that sometimes when I trigger a group action, like turning all lights on or off, not all bulbs respond immediately. It’s been a bit frustrating, especially when I’m using motion sensors to automate the lights. I’ve seen others solve this by sending commands to bulbs in smaller groups with slight delays between them, and I think I might try that approach too.

Another thing I’ve been experimenting with is using scenes to control both the on/off state and brightness of my lights. For example, in the morning, I have a scene that turns on the sofa lamp and sets it to 35% brightness. During the day, it ramps up to 50%. However, I’ve noticed some odd behavior where the lamp turns off briefly before coming back on. I’m not sure if this is due to a conflicting rule or something else, but it’s definitely something I need to look into.

If anyone has tips or tricks for smoother group control or scene transitions, I’d love to hear them! It’s been a great learning experience, and I’m excited to keep improving my setup. Happy experimenting! :star2:
