Smart Lighting Integration and User Experience

Hello everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting lately and wanted to share my experiences and thoughts with you all. I recently purchased a set of Govee Outdoor Strip Lights EVO, and I must say, they’ve been a fantastic addition to my home. The RGBICW technology allows for vibrant multi-color effects, which really brighten up my outdoor spaces. Plus, the Matter compatibility is a huge plus, making integration with my existing smart home ecosystem seamless.

However, I’ve encountered a few challenges along the way. One issue I’m facing is with my Shelly smoke sensors. Despite following the setup instructions, I’m consistently getting a ‘Device failed to include’ error. I’ve tried resetting the devices and ensuring they’re within range, but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else experienced this and managed to resolve it? I’d greatly appreciate any tips or suggestions.

Another topic I wanted to touch on is the integration of smart lighting with scene controllers. I’ve heard a lot about direct association and how it can enhance the responsiveness of my lighting setup. However, I’m a bit hesitant to invest in premium devices due to the cost. I’m curious to know if others have found the benefits of direct association worth the investment or if there are workarounds using existing smart home hubs like SmartThings.

Lastly, I’ve been experimenting with using pressure mats for security purposes. I came across the United Security Products 901PR pressure mat and am interested in integrating it into my system. The idea is to have it trigger a text notification and turn on lights when someone approaches my front door. However, I’m not entirely sure how to configure this within my current setup. Any advice or experiences would be invaluable.

Overall, my journey into smart lighting and home automation has been both exciting and challenging. I’m eager to hear your thoughts, experiences, and any advice you might have. Let’s continue to explore and innovate together!
