Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience with setting up smart lighting rules in my home. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I think I’ve got it figured out! Here’s the setup I’ve been working with:
- Morning Rule: Lights turn on at 7 AM and off at 8 AM.
- Evening Rule: Lights come on at 7 PM and stay on until 10:30 PM.
- Motion Sensing: From 10:30 PM to 7 AM, lights activate with motion and turn off after 2 minutes of inactivity.
This setup works well most of the time, but there’s one scenario that’s been bugging me. If there’s motion detected just before 7 AM—say, at 6:59 AM—the morning rule doesn’t kick in to turn the lights off at 8 AM. Instead, the lights stay on because the motion rule doesn’t override the existing state. It’s a minor inconvenience, but I’d love to find a way to ensure the morning rule always takes precedence.
I’ve tried adjusting the timing and even looked into creating a more complex rule, but nothing seems to work seamlessly. Has anyone else encountered this issue? I’d appreciate any tips or suggestions on how to resolve this overlap. Thanks in advance for your help! ![]()
