I’ve been experimenting with creating different lighting scenarios using my smart outlets and virtual switches. It’s been a fun challenge to figure out how to control multiple lamps in various combinations. I started with simple automations, like turning on a lamp at 10 PM, but I wanted to take it further for more complex setups. For example, I created three virtual switches: Bright, Dim, and Chill. Each corresponds to a different lighting scenario. Bright turns on all three lamps, Dim turns on two, and Chill turns on just one. Initially, I thought it would be straightforward, but I realized I needed to ensure that switching between scenarios would turn off the appropriate lamps if they were already on. After some trial and error, I figured out that using scenes within a single group was the way to go. This setup allows me to easily switch between scenarios without worrying about overlapping states. It’s been a great learning experience, and now I have a system that works seamlessly with my voice commands and dashboard controls. I’m excited to see how I can expand this setup in the future!
