I recently embarked on a home automation project, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! I’ve been slowly transforming my backyard into a more enjoyable space, and lighting plays a huge role in that. I started with some ground lights and string lights, and I have to say, the difference they make is incredible. It’s amazing how a well-lit patio can extend the usable time of your outdoor space, especially during the cooler months. I’m still in the process of adding rope lights and spotlights, but even the progress so far has been worth every bit of effort.One challenge I faced was ensuring consistent connectivity with my smart devices. I came across a water valve that kept going offline, which was frustrating. After doing some research, I discovered that flashing it with Tasmota firmware helped stabilize the connection. It was a bit of a learning curve, but it paid off in the end. I’d recommend looking into Tasmota if you’re having similar issues with your devices.Another area I’ve been exploring is automating my heating system. I’ve been using smart thermostats for a while now, but I wanted to take it a step further by integrating wireless temperature sensors. My goal was to create zones where I could control the heating independently. For instance, I wanted my downstairs thermostat to control the entire house, while the upstairs one would only affect the upstairs radiators. After some trial and error, I managed to set it up by pairing all the upstairs radiators with a single wireless sensor.
