Hey everyone, I just wanted to share some of my recent experiences with setting up a smart lighting system in my home. It’s been a fascinating journey, and I’ve learned a lot along the way!
First off, I’ve been working on creating a comprehensive lighting setup using the Shelly RGBW2 controller. It’s an amazing device that allows me to control multiple lighting zones with ease. I’ve integrated it with 23 built-in spotlights, each with GU5.3 sockets, and I have to say, the dimming functionality is spot on. However, I did run into a bit of trouble finding compatible GU5.3 bulbs that work seamlessly with the RGBW2. After some research and testing, I finally found a reliable brand that works perfectly with my setup. It’s all about finding the right combination of hardware and software settings!
Another thing I’ve been experimenting with is the Zooz ZEN54 0-10V dimmer. While it’s a solid device, I noticed that the default dimming speed wasn’t quite to my liking. I managed to tweak the settings using the Basic Z-Wave tool, which made a significant difference. However, I’m still curious if there’s a way to enhance the built-in driver further without delving too deep into the code. If anyone has any insights on this, I’d love to hear them!
On the software side, I’ve been using Homey as my central hub, and it’s been performing exceptionally well. I have around 60 devices connected, including switches, lights, and sensors, all managed through 53 flows. One thing I noticed recently is that the system seemed to slow down a bit over time. After doing some troubleshooting, I realized that regular reboots and cleaning up unused apps helped maintain its performance. It’s a good reminder to keep things optimized!
I also wanted to touch on the importance of Bluetooth sensor data. I’ve been using BTHome sensors to track temperature and other environmental factors, and it’s been incredibly useful. One feature I’d love to see is the ability to customize how many decimal points are displayed in the sensor readings. It would make the data presentation cleaner and more user-friendly.
Lastly, I’ve been trying to pair a Legrand 412171 contactor with my ZigBee setup through ZigBee2MQTT. It was a bit of a challenge at first, but after following the correct pairing instructions and resetting the device properly, it finally connected without any issues. It’s a great feeling when everything clicks into place!
Overall, this project has been a fantastic learning experience, and I’m grateful for the supportive community here. If anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing their smart lighting setups or device compatibility, I’d love to hear about them! Let’s keep the knowledge flowing!
