Smart Lighting Setup: Challenges and Solutions

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience setting up a smart lighting system in my home. It’s been a mix of excitement and a few hurdles, but I’ve learned a lot along the way!

I started with the goal of creating a seamless lighting experience across different rooms. I decided to mix Govee and Wyze lights to keep costs manageable while still getting the features I wanted. However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. I encountered some unexpected issues, especially with dimming and color accuracy.

One particular challenge was getting my Govee LED panels to dim properly. Initially, they seemed to flicker at lower brightness levels, which was frustrating. After some research, I discovered that calibration settings in the Shelly app could help. I played around with the trailing and leading edge settings, and while it didn’t completely eliminate the flicker, it made a significant improvement. I also found that setting a minimum brightness level helped prevent the lights from appearing too harsh when dimmed.

Another issue I faced was with color matching. I noticed that the colors I selected on my phone didn’t always translate accurately to the lights. This was especially noticeable with warmer tones, which appeared more orange than expected. I reached out to the community, and someone suggested adjusting the color temperature settings in the app. That made a world of difference!

Through trial and error, I also learned the importance of testing different settings in real-time. For example, I now use the app’s live view to adjust brightness and colors before saving them as presets. This has saved me a lot of time and frustration.

Overall, I’m really happy with how my lighting setup turned out. It’s bright, customizable, and energy-efficient. I’d love to hear if anyone else has tips or tricks for optimizing smart lighting systems—especially for achieving consistent color accuracy!

Cheers to all the fellow smart home enthusiasts out there! :star2:
