I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! One of the first projects I tackled was setting up a smart lighting system using a Shelly 1 Plus and a WS1. The goal was to create a seamless lighting experience where I could control the lights both through a physical switch and the Shelly app.
At first glance, the setup seemed straightforward. I connected the Shelly 1 Plus and WS1 according to the instructions, but I quickly ran into an issue. When I flipped the physical switch, the lights turned on perfectly, but the Shelly app wouldn’t let me turn them off. It was frustrating because I wanted the best of both worlds—manual control and smart automation.
After some research and trial and error, I realized the problem was with how the devices were configured. I reached out to the community for help, and someone suggested adjusting the settings in the Shelly app to ensure both devices communicated properly. It took a bit of tweaking, but eventually, everything started working as intended!
Now, I can control my lights seamlessly from the app, set up schedules, and even integrate them with other smart devices. It’s been a fantastic learning experience, and I’m so glad I didn’t give up on this project. If anyone else is struggling with a similar setup, I’d recommend checking the device configurations and reaching out to the community for support—they’re incredibly helpful!
