Smart Lighting Setup: My Journey with Govee and Zigbee

I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting lately, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! :star2: I recently decided to upgrade my outdoor lighting setup, and I came across the Govee H7060 RGBICWW Smart Flood Lights. These lights have been a game-changer for my backyard! They not only provide vibrant colors but also offer precise control through my smartphone app. I’ve installed them behind my pool’s feature wall, and the results are stunning! :ocean::sparkles:

However, setting them up wasn’t without its challenges. I had to run a power source extension to the back retaining wall, which involved running about 60 feet of 3/4” PVC conduit. It was a bit of a hassle, but the end result was worth every bit of effort! :hammer_and_wrench:

For those of you who might be considering similar installations, I’d recommend planning meticulously. Measure where you want the lights to go and ensure you have a nearby GFCI-compliant electrical outlet. Also, don’t forget to use a waterproof container for your connections to keep everything safe from the elements! :cloud_with_rain:

Another thing I’ve been exploring is integrating my Zigbee devices into my Home Assistant setup. I’ve been slowly building up my network over the past six months, and while it’s been mostly smooth sailing, I’ve encountered a few hiccups. For instance, my Zigbee network occasionally becomes unstable after a couple of weeks, requiring a restart. I suspect it might be related to the number of routers I have in my small house. I’m thinking of manually triggering a network heal to optimize the connections. :hammer_and_wrench::bulb:

If you’re also dealing with Zigbee instability, I’d love to hear your tips and tricks! Let’s discuss how we can keep our smart homes running smoothly. :handshake:

Happy smart lighting and networking everyone! :star2:
