Hello everyone! I’m thrilled to share my recent journey in setting up a smart lighting system for both my home and holiday decorations. This project has been a fantastic way to embrace the festive season while integrating some cool tech features. Let me walk you through my setup and some tips I’ve gathered along the way.First, I decided to go with Govee Lyra LED strips for their versatility and vibrant colors. I placed them near my walls for indirect lighting, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. After some experimentation, I found that placing the strips about 12 inches away from the wall provided the most even distribution of light, illuminating the entire room without any harsh spots.Next, I wanted to add a bit of weather integration to my setup. I came across the OpenWeatherMap service and thought it would be a great addition to my Hubitat dashboard. By setting up a virtual device and connecting it to my OpenWeatherMap account, I can now monitor weather conditions right from my dashboard. This integration has been incredibly helpful for adjusting my lighting based on outdoor conditions—brighter lights on cloudy days and softer hues when the sun is out.For the holidays, I’ve been exploring creative ways to use my Govee lights for Christmas decorations. Wrapping the strips around my Christmas tree has been a hit, and I’ve created custom scenes to match different occasions. Whether it’s a subtle glow for a cozy evening or a vibrant display for parties, the flexibility of these lights has been amazing!Here are a few tips I’d like to share:- Experiment with distances: The optimal placement of your lights can vary based on the room’s size and your desired effect.
