I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting lately, and I have to say, it’s been an incredible journey! 
I recently purchased a set of Govee RGB strip lights and a mini lamp, and I’ve been experimenting with syncing them with my Home Assistant setup. The goal? To create a stunning aurora theme that shifts colors and brightness throughout the evening. 
Let me walk you through my setup and some of the challenges I’ve faced along the way. First, I connected the Govee devices to my Zigbee hub, which was a breeze thanks to their compatibility. I then integrated them into Home Assistant using the Zigbee2MQTT add-on. The initial configuration was straightforward, but I ran into a few hiccups when trying to get the color transitions smooth. After some tweaking, I managed to set up a scene that changes colors every few minutes, creating that magical aurora effect I was aiming for. 
One thing I’d love to improve is the integration with my existing smart speaker setup. I want to be able to control the lights with voice commands, but I’m not entirely sure how to set that up. Another challenge I faced was ensuring consistent brightness across all the lights. I ended up using Home Assistant’s built-in automation to adjust the brightness based on the time of day, which has made a world of difference. Now, the lights dim automatically as it gets darker outside, creating a seamless transition from day to night.
