Smart Lighting Setup with Wyze Bulbs and Open/Closed Sensors

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience setting up smart lighting in my closet using Wyze bulbs and an open/closed sensor. It’s been a fun project and I’d love to hear if anyone else has tried something similar or has tips to improve the setup!

First, I installed two Wyze bulbs in my closet. They work perfectly on their own, but I wanted to take it a step further by integrating them with an open/closed sensor on the closet door. My goal was to have the lights automatically turn on when I open the door and turn off when I close it. Sounds simple, but I had to figure out how to make the sensor control the bulbs.

After some research, I created a group called “clothes closet” in my smart home app, which includes both Wyze bulbs. I then paired the open/closed sensor with the group. Initially, I wasn’t sure how to link the sensor to the bulbs, but I found a helpful guide that walked me through the process. It turns out, the sensor needed to be programmed to trigger the group’s on/off commands.

Now, every time I open the closet door, the lights automatically turn on, and when I close the door, they turn off. It’s such a small convenience, but it’s made my mornings so much easier! I no longer have to fumble for the light switch in the dark.

I’d love to hear if anyone else has set something like this up or if there are alternative methods to achieve the same result. Maybe there’s a way to add a delay or adjust the brightness based on the time of day? I’m still exploring all the possibilities!

This project has inspired me to look into other ways to automate my home, and I’m excited to see what else I can do with smart devices. Thanks for reading, and feel free to share your thoughts or experiences below!
