Smart Lighting Solutions and My Journey with IKEA GU10

I recently embarked on a home renovation project and decided to integrate smart lighting into my living and dining areas. After some research, I came across the IKEA GU10 Zigbee bulbs, which seemed perfect for my needs—they’re dimmable, support color temperature changes, and are compatible with my existing Zigbee2MQTT setup. However, the cost for 20 bulbs ended up being quite high, which made me wonder if there are more affordable alternatives that still offer the same functionality. Has anyone found a better or cheaper solution for GU10 smart bulbs? I’d love to hear your recommendations!

In the meantime, I’ve been exploring other smart home features. For instance, I’ve been trying to set up a scene-based lighting system using templates in Home Assistant. While I’ve found some great examples online, I’m still struggling to figure out how to properly integrate these templates into my existing setup. If anyone has tips or resources on creating and managing scene templates, I’d appreciate the guidance!

Another interesting project I’ve been working on is automating my dog’s kennel. The goal is to create a calming environment during storms by playing soothing music or white noise when my dog enters the kennel. I’ve set up an ultrasonic sensor and an RGB LED strip, but I’m having trouble getting the music to play automatically through a connected device. Any suggestions on how to trigger music playback based on sensor input would be fantastic!

Finally, I’d like to thank the community for all the support and shared knowledge. It’s amazing how much can be accomplished with the right tools and a bit of creativity. If anyone has tips on optimizing smart lighting setups or troubleshooting common issues, please share them—I’m always looking to learn more!
