I wanted to share my experience with pairing the Schlage BE469ZP smart lock with my SmartThings hub. It’s been quite the journey, but I finally got it sorted out! Hopefully, this can help someone else avoid the same headaches.
First off, I’ve had a lot of success with Schlage locks in the past, but this one was giving me a run for my money. I followed the standard troubleshooting steps: excluding the lock, factory reset, rebooting the hub, and scanning for devices. Nothing worked. The green light on the hub wouldn’t even flash like it usually does when it goes into pairing mode. Frustrating!
After two days of this, I decided to try something different. I came across a tip online about using the QR code provided with the lock to manually add it to the hub. I scanned the QR code, and voilà! The lock was detected, but it wanted me to go through a secure setup process. This just kept looping back to the QR code scan, which was super annoying.
I tried resetting the lock again and rebooting everything. Still nothing. Then I remembered that sometimes legacy drivers can cause issues. I switched to the latest PH drivers and gave it another shot. Bingo! The lock paired successfully, and now it’s working like a charm.
I want to emphasize how important it is to ensure your drivers are up to date. Sometimes, even if you think everything is set up correctly, outdated drivers can throw a wrench in the works. Also, don’t underestimate the power of Google when troubleshooting. There’s usually someone out there who’s already solved your problem!

- Make sure your hub and drivers are up to date.
- Try manually adding the device using the QR code if automatic pairing fails.
