Smart Lock Security Concerns and Solutions

I’ve been exploring the idea of installing a smart lock on my porch door to streamline package deliveries. The convenience of remotely locking and unlocking the door, combined with camera monitoring, sounds fantastic. However, I’ve hit a snag with the internal thumbturn handle on most smart locks. My porch door has clear glass windows and a letterbox close to the lock, raising security concerns. What stops someone from manipulating the internal handle through the letterbox? I’ve contacted Yale UK about their Conexis L1 lock, but they haven’t provided a clear answer yet.

I’m considering whether disabling the internal handle while retaining remote locking functionality is feasible. If not, maybe a traditional lock for the main door and a smart lock solely for the porch could be a safer workaround. I’d love to hear others’ experiences and solutions for similar setups. Security is paramount, and I want to ensure my smart lock setup doesn’t compromise safety. Thanks for any insights or recommendations!
