Smart Lock U100 “Not Bound” to hub?

Installed my new lock yesterday, got it added to the app successfully and it was working until this morning. Now my app doesn’t see the lock while I’m at work and the device screen says it’s not bound to a hub. Did I miss a step when setting it up?

Hi @d_l_hergenrader you need to link the lock to the hub, I marked on the snapshot where to click for this. After linking the hub to the lock, you will be able to remotely see the status and use the lock in automations.

Thank you! Our home has two hubs so I bound the lock to the one closest to it.

Does the lock not being bound explain why it would appear disconnected while I was still in the house but in a different room?

If the lock was not linked to the hub, the connection was via Bluetooth and most likely the signal simply did not reach the room you were in due to the large distance.
After linking, the status is displayed and the lock is now online?

Yes it seems to be. I’m not familiar with hubs and am migrating from Nest devices. If I didn’t have an Aqara hub would that mean the lock would be limited to working only within Bluetooth range? And would that also be true if I had an Apple hub device or must I have an Aqara hub?

Hi , If you didn’t have a hub, the interaction with the lock would only occur via BT, the Apple hub is needed to open the lock remotely. Have a nice day.

But what I’m wondering is if an Apple hub is acceptable instead of an Aqara hub? For example, if I recommend Aqara to someone who has an Apple Minihomepod or an Apple TV will Aqara work with that setup alone or will that person need to buy an Aqara hub as well?

If you use only Apple homekit then only the smart home center from apple is needed.
