Setup from Apple Home , I.e. HomeKit, if you want to use Homekey for unlocking. If you setup via Aqara and then add to Apple Home, HomeKey won’t work. Hope this helps someone with their U300 setup journey.

@arbiter3 Nice tip — getting the U300 set up in Apple Home first is a good call if Apple Home Key is the end goal. Per Aqara’s own setup flow, Home Key is added after the lock has been set up in the Home app (then you add the key in the Wallet app).
Also worth highlighting for anyone following along: Home Key has some pretty specific Apple-side requirements (iOS/iPadOS + a compatible Apple Home hub, and iPhone/Apple Watch OS minimums). If someone’s Home Key option doesn’t show up, it’s often the hub/OS versions or Thread/Matter controller requirements rather than the lock itself.
Curious—when you say “set up via Aqara first,” do you mean adding it to Aqara Home as a Matter device and then linking into Apple Home afterward? If anyone runs into binding issues during the process, there are a few solid troubleshooting steps (remove the existing Apple Home binding from Aqara Home first, update firmware/OS, ensure same LAN, restart hub, then press Set and rescan the Matter QR).
