Hi all, I wanted to share a really cool automation I’ve set up for my plants. Some plants need a lot of water, others less. Keeping track of all this was getting really hard, so I decided to create a blueprint that handles it all for me. What it does: This blueprint sends me a notification with an optional photo of the plant on a specific time when it needs watering. It’s based on the idea that watering plants in the evening or early morning is best, so you can set the reminder time yourself. Once I water the plant, I just press the action in the notification, and it snoozes the reminder for the interval I’ve set. If I skip a day, the notification will keep coming until I snooze it again. Note: This blueprint doesn’t account for weather conditions and is meant for indoor plants. Features: - Sends notifications at the set time when the plant needs watering. - Optional image of the plant in the notification. - Actionable notification to snooze reminders. - Fully customizable texts. How it works: The blueprint uses an input_datetime entity to track when each plant needs watering. You can create one entity per plant or use a single one for all.
Blueprint Details: - Reminder Time: Set when you want to be reminded (e.g., 20:00). - Interval Days: How many days between watering. - Notification Title & Message: Customize the notification to your liking. - Action Name: What the snooze action is called. - Notify Device: Choose where the notification goes. Example Use Case: I have a fiddle leaf fig that needs watering every 7 days. I set up the blueprint with a photo of the plant, and now I get a reminder every Sunday at 8 PM. Once I water it, I just press the action, and it snoozes until next Sunday. This has been a lifesaver for me! No more overwatering or forgetting my plants. I’d love to hear if anyone else finds this useful or has suggestions for improvement. Happy automating! ![]()
