Hey everyone! I’m relatively new to the world of smart home devices and I’m trying to figure out how to set up my smart plug to work seamlessly with my existing setup. I recently added a smart plug to control a standard bulb, but I’m running into a bit of a snag.
Previously, I used a traditional electric switch to turn the light on and off. Now that I’ve switched to a smart plug, I’m finding it a bit tricky. Here’s the issue: when I try to turn the light on using the standard electric switch, the smart plug doesn’t respond because it’s in the ‘off’ state. This means I have to manually toggle the plug on before the switch can work, which defeats the purpose of having a smart plug in the first place!
I was wondering if there’s a way to configure the smart plug so that it starts in the ‘on’ state by default. This would make the transition much smoother and allow me to use the electric switch as I did before. I’ve done a bit of research, but I haven’t found a clear solution yet.
Has anyone else encountered this issue? If so, how did you resolve it? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated! I’m really excited to get this working and take full advantage of my smart home setup. Thanks in advance for your help!
