Hello everyone, I wanted to share my experience with setting up smart plug rules in my home automation system. I have a total of 9 Smart Plugs and 3 Smart Switches controlling household lights. All are set by rule to turn ON at Sunset. However, I noticed that 6 Plugs and all 3 switches do turn ON at Sunset, while the other 3 Plugs turn on 3 minutes earlier. This is NOT a huge issue, but I was wondering why this would be happening.
After some research and trial and error, I found that the delay might be due to the processing time of the automation system. To resolve this, I adjusted the trigger time for the delayed plugs by setting them to turn on slightly earlier. This ensured a more synchronized activation across all devices.
I also wanted to share some troubleshooting tips I’ve learned along the way. If you’re experiencing issues with your smart plugs or switches, here are a few steps you can take:
- Check the Network Connection: Ensure all devices are connected to the same network and there are no connectivity issues.
- Update Firmware: Make sure all your devices are running the latest firmware.
- Review Rules and Triggers: Double-check your automation rules to ensure there are no conflicts or delays in the trigger settings.
- Test Individually: Test each device individually to isolate the problem.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to the manufacturer’s documentation or community forums for specific troubleshooting guides.
If you’ve encountered similar issues or have additional tips, I’d love to hear from you! Happy automating! ![]()
