I don’t think this will be a popular solution.
Aqara has hubs with IR.
What would you use an IR-equipped outlet for?

I have ACs in every bedroom and an outlet with IR could handle those, energy monitoring or make it possible to remote steering of a not so smart lamp. I think it would be great.
An M100 hub in each room or similar would take up outlets without doing much else.
