Smart Sprinkler System Automation with Homey

Hey everyone! I’m really excited to share my latest smart home project with you all. I’ve been working on automating my garden sprinkler system using Homey, and I wanted to see if anyone else has tackled something similar or has tips to share!

A bit about my setup: I have a large garden with three distinct zones, each equipped with pop-up sprinklers. The system is managed by a pump house with 24V solenoid valves, controlled by a Heatit Z-Wave water module connected to my Homey hub. Each zone is set up as a separate switch in the Homey app, and I can only water one zone at a time due to the system’s design.

Here’s where I’d love to get some input: I’d like to create a flow that automates the watering process. Ideally, each zone would water for one hour every morning, and I’d like the ability to start and stop the entire cycle with a single button press—perfect for those dry spells when I want to ensure my garden stays hydrated without constant monitoring.

I’ve played around with creating flows before, but I’m hitting a bit of a wall with timing and automation. Has anyone successfully set up something similar? Any advice on how to structure the flow or manage the timing would be incredibly helpful!

On a related note, I’d love to hear if others have integrated weather sensors into their sprinkler systems to prevent watering during rain or adjust schedules based on weather forecasts. That would be the cherry on top of this project!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences. Let’s make our gardens smarter together! :tulip::sparkles:
