Hey everyone, I recently decided to upgrade my home with some smart switches, and I thought I’d share my experience in case it helps anyone else. Installing these devices wasn’t as straightforward as I expected, but it was definitely worth the effort!
First, I started with the kitchen. I had a basic setup with three wires: blue (neutral), brown (live), and yellow-green (ground). I followed the instructions carefully, connecting the neutral and live wires to the smart switch. However, the LED lights I connected didn’t turn on automatically. After some research, I realized I needed to ensure the switch was powered correctly. I added a jumper between L1 and L, and voilà! The lights came on, and I could control them through my hub.
Next, I tackled the bedroom, which had a two-way switch. This was a bit more challenging. I used a Sonoff ZBR3 switch, but it didn’t power up initially. I checked the wiring again and realized I had mixed up the live and load wires. Once I corrected that, the switch worked perfectly. It’s amazing how a simple wiring mistake can cause so much frustration!
For anyone else installing smart switches, here are a few tips I learned:
- Always double-check your wiring connections before powering up.
- If your lights don’t turn on automatically, ensure the switch is correctly configured to power the lights.
- Don’t hesitate to consult online forums or guides if you run into issues. The community is really helpful!
I’m now looking forward to expanding my smart home setup with more devices. If anyone has tips or experiences to share, I’d love to hear them! Happy installing! ![]()
