Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience integrating smart thermostats into my central heating system. Earlier this year, I installed a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 30 CDi Classic System boiler with an internal diverter valve. The system is controlled by a Digistat+RF Room Thermostat and an LP20RF Programmer. Initially, I was using traditional thermostats, but I decided to upgrade to Tado V3 Smart Radiator Thermostats for more precise room-by-room control.
At first, I was a bit overwhelmed by the setup process, but after some research and trial and error, I managed to integrate everything seamlessly. The Tado app allows me to set target temperatures for specific rooms, and the boiler modulation works perfectly to maintain the desired comfort levels. I also installed a remote bypass valve to help reduce pump load when all radiators are off, which has been a great addition.
One thing I’m still curious about is whether it’s possible to have the Tado system directly control the boiler’s heat demand instead of relying on the Digistat+RF for ‘On’ and ‘Off’ signals. If anyone has experience with similar setups or knows of a way to achieve this, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Overall, I’m really happy with how the system is performing. It’s been a fantastic way to optimize heating efficiency and comfort. If you’re considering a similar upgrade, I highly recommend exploring the capabilities of smart thermostats in conjunction with your existing boiler setup. Happy automating! ![]()
